New Standards In Web DesignWeb design is a fast-moving discipline. If your website is not on the cutting edge, chances are you're falling behind. Here is a look into the future of web design, and what you need to know as a Production Designer, to help you see how these amazing new design trends can help your site attract and convert more (and better) leads.

Trend #1: Focus on the Content

In the world of web design, content sometimes gets overlooked as mere "filler." But for 2017, content is again king. This is important to design because it is the overall structure and flow of a site which is imperative to the successful communication of information. Ideally, the arrangement of design elements within a given site structure should allow and encourage the reader to easily focus on the message, without slowing down the speed of his reading. This means allowing the content to take center stage, because readers aren't there for the formatting – they're there for the info.

Trend #2: Go Big or Go Home

Big and beautiful bold typography is taking center stage. Too often readers are stuck trying to make sense of overly wordy or flourish-filled text. The average website visitor is on a page for mere seconds, often accessing your page from a mobile device. In recognition of that, designers know you have to be front and center with your main message in text. Clear, concise copy and spotlighted typography is the obvious choice to help you get your viewers to focus on the good stuff.

Trend #3: Be Responsive

There are now a very wide range of devices able to look at your website at any given moment. If your website is not designed with that thought in mind, you're probably losing a good portion of your viewers because your site looks bad on their device. Responsive web design is the way of the future. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it simply means the elements of your site automatically adapt to the different screen sizes accessing the page. Rather than wasting time redesigning your site for every possible screen your content will be viewed on, find a tool you like which can do the heavy lifting for you. Automation is the way of the future, as we all know.

Trend #4: More Color

The web is a colorful place. And website designers realize the color schemes they use can have a huge impact on the interest and engagement of their viewers. Therefore, we predict that 2017 will be a bright and beautiful year for web design. Think about how you can incorporate more vivid and eye-catching color choices into your web design. Gone are the days of strict professionalism in a strong color scheme. Color conveys emotion, entices viewers to interact with your content and when done right, makes them feel good about the time they've spent on your site. So don't be afraid to experiment with more vibrant hues.
